A Very, Very, Very Fine Haas

It was a horribly disappointing day for Tommy Haas fans at the U.S. Open yesterday, after he squandered a two-set lead against Nikolay Davydenko and lost 4-6, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in a quarterfinal match that lasted 3-1/2 hours. Down two breaks in the fifth, Haas got one back and then had Davydenko down 15-40 on his serve to tie it up at 5-all, only to lose the game.

Another Haas fan e-mailed me this racy photo of Haas and (what I'm guess is) a girlfriend naked on a beach (those crazy Europeans). The other photo (which is unfortunately small) is from Tommy's official site and features him at home in Sarasota, Florida, with his playful tomcat Fuffy, so named for the price he paid for him (fuffy apparently means 50 bucks in German). If Tommy ever sees the light and asks me to move in it seems Troy will have a little friend to play with, too.

What's wrong with this picture?

Fuffy is a biter and only likes to be petted on his terms (how unusual for a cat).
