E.D. Hill: Is This Bitch for Real?

Did you see Fox News anchorwoman E.D. Hill reporting on Hillary Clinton's adopting a Southern accent while reading a hymn by the Rev. James Cleveland, during her visit to Selma, Ala.? (It was the moment of zen last night on "The Daily Show.")

Across the screen it said:
Y'ALL DECIDE
HILLARY DOES SOUTHERN ACCENT
AT ALABAMA CAMPAIGN STOP

When a guest suggested that Hillary might have been just trying to connect to her audience, this woman actually had the balls to say: "But would it happen elsewhere? If she was attending, say, a GLAAD convention, would she speak with a lisp? If she were attending a Hispanic convention, would she speak with a Spanish accent? Or if she were attending an African-American convention, would she start throwing out phrases -- you know, 'Homies, here I am?'"

Forget about Ann Coulter, that shemale only comes out of her hole once in a blue moon. This E.D. Hill is a right-wing pinup who reaches millions of impressionable (read: retarded) viewers every day. Someone's gotta bring this bitch down.

ED Hill's outrageous "lisp" comment serves as a reminder once again that there is a virulent, sick, hateful homophobia pervasive in our society and yes, Kenneth, you are right, we must address this. GLAAD exists, to my mind, for just this occasion. Neil Giuliano (GLAAD ED) should make a public statement criticizing Ms Hill. This is no different than Isiah Washington or Tim Hardaway in my mind. That Hill also expresed derogatory remarks regarding African Americans cannot neutralize the attack on gays.

I don't accept the premise of the report that Hillary was feigning a Southern accent, on the basis of the evidence given. I'd like to see the entire speech, because though I am an avowed Hillary skeptic, I am wondering if perhaps this clip may have been taken out of context.

From her bio on the FauxNews site: "A graduate of University of Texas and mother of eight children..."

Someone must be relying on the rhythm method.

Hillary's corn pone minstrel show was a sad example of her morphing for any audience that might throw her a vote. I still plan to pull the lever for her, but if she keeps this up, I'll vote for "whoever/whatever" instead.

I could understand an attack on Hilary's comments if they weren't made in a supportive, uplifing context (ie Ann Coulter's frequent attacks against anyone non-caucasian or heterosexual).

The fact is this was an attempt by a presidential candidate to rally a political base for support by showing common ground and interests, not meant to exercise some undesirables through mockery. FauxNews should understand that it's problematic to compare an honestly reverent imitation of a geographicly-based accent against vocal traits exploited by stereotypes.

They really should spend SOME time acting as actual reporters.

Almost the same day Bush gave part of a speech in Spanish. It's called connecting with the audience, it's done all the time.

It's only an issue when the right wing is trying to make a hypocritical point.
